Head of Cultural Affairs - DFA & Culture Ireland

Síobhra is currently Head of Cultural Affairs at the Consulate General of Ireland in Los Angeles, working with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Culture Ireland to support, promote and celebrate Irish arts in the Western United States.

South Wind Blows

Síobhra was previously a co-curator for Ireland’s Edge, – a multidisciplinary event series that makes up a distinctive strand of Other Voices and South Wind Blows. Propelled by a keen interest in posthumanism, Síobhra’s curatorial work for Ireland’s Edge was primarily in the Arts + Technology space, including:

  • The co-curation of “Virtual Crash” - a collaboration between Crash Ensemble, Technologist Guillaume Auvray and Camille Donegan of VR Ireland

  • Curation & moderation of “If Only I Had a Heart” - a conversation with Conor McGinn and Niamh Donnelly of Akara Robotics

  • Curation & moderation of “My Body is a Cage” - a conversation with author Mark O’Connell and theatre maker Bush Moukarzel

Síobhra’s work with South Wind Blows also included assisting with the implementation of the exhibition strategies of:

  • Keepers of the Flame: Directed by Nuala O’Connor (2018)

  • Henry Glassie: Field Work: Directed by Pat Collins (2019)

Síobhra acted as an Associate Producer to Tina O’Reilly for feature documentaries and films in development.

Síobhra co-curated ANAM in 2018 & 2019 - a South Wind Blows and Dublin City University a Multidisciplinary Arts Festival.

Intercultural Collaborations

Síobhra’s freelance Creative Producing work includes This Land at The National Concert Hall Dublin and The Civic Theatre - a collaborative and integrative theatre piece, involving Candlelit Tales, Raymond Keane, Farah Elle and emerging Artists who are currently seeking asylum as part of St. Patrick’s Festival 2019.

Síobhra is currently Creative Producer to Leide Beag - a collaborative film-performance comprising voice, movement and image. Inspired by the celebrated Irish language texts of the Aistriú collection, this newly-devised work explores modern migration through a rich weave of music and song, movement and gesture, alongside a collaborative process with members of the One World Voice Choir based in the Croí na Gaillimhe migrant support centre.

The interdisciplinary team behind the work include composer Ian Wilson, artist-facilitator Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi, filmmaker Laura Sheeran, choreographer Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín, director Robbie Blake, conductor Sinead Hayes, and members of Tonnta and the One World Voice Choir

Contemporary Opera

As a freelance Creative Producer, Síobhra produced the pop-up contemporary opera Xenia by Nick Roth - a wildly anarchic exploration of the notion of hospitality, as part of Bealtaine Festival 2018 & 2019, and Culture Night 2018.

Síobhra was producer of Opera Theatre Company’s Opera Hub – a series of happenings, including a 24hr Opera, Opera Screenings, and a reimagining of the Cabinet of Dr Caligari at Electric Picnic (2016-2017).
